THE EVENT
Following the success of an Inaugural Gala in 2015, hosted by keynote speaker Bill Clinton, on Thursday, June 16th, the Walkabout Foundation hosted the Women4Walkabout Ladies luxury fundraising Luncheon at Claridge’s Hotel in London. The event has launched the foundation’s monthly giving campaign, featuring a live and silent auction. The luncheon was sponsored by Buccellati, thus allowing 100% of the proceeds of the auctioned pieces to go directly to the foundation’s programs and projects. As a gift to the attendees, Buccellati offered several pairs of Hawaii Color pendant earrings; recipients were selected at random, one per table.
“Walkabout Foundation is honoured to partner with Buccellati for its first ever Women4Walkabout Ladies Luncheon. Millions of people throughout the developing world suffer from mobility disabilities, and women and children in particular are often the most vulnerable and neglected.”
Carolina Gonzalez-Bunster, Walkabout Foundation Co-Founder
Over 300 influential women across fashion, art and business were in attendance at the Luncheon including: Mary Katrantzou, Emilia Wickstead, Noor Fares, Tamara Beckwith, Melissa del Bono, Juliet Angus, Tania Fares, Lord Ruth Dundas and Tania Bryer. Guest of Honor and Beneficiary of the Foundation’s work Charity Nana, whose life was transformed when gifted with a wheelchair in her home country of Kenya by Walkabout Foundation, was in attendance at the luncheon, making a short speech and treating guests to a beautiful singing performance. Maria Cristina Buccellati was there to witness the presence and involvement of the Buccellati brand and to share the positive, constructive and concrete energy of Walkabout Foundation, “which is inspiring for everyone involved”, she stated.
